Forestdale Primary School is proud of the way we help those less fortunate than us. We continue to receive terrific support for our charity events in school. These events are always fun and colourful affairs which involve the whole school.
Sponsoring Children in Education
For three years Oak class children have raised enough money to sponsor two children to have an education - Mary in Ghana and Joynal in Bangladesh. Oak class have an annual cake sale and sponsorship event to raise the funds to continue to provide an education for these two children through the charity International Needs.
The school raised an impressive £2913.00 through sponsorship. Children took part in a sponsored skipping event to raise this amount.
Save the Children
Larch class children sang Christmas carols in the Whitgift Shopping Centre, raising £186.00 for Save the Children. Funds from our Christmas Jumper Day increased this amount to £422.00
Love in a Box
For many years the school has supported the Mustard Seed Project's Love in a Box initiative. Children prepare shoeboxes of gifts for children who would not otherwise have presents at Christmas time. The shoe boxes go to children in Central Asia.
Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
Each year we raise funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal; last year we raised £124 which was the third highest amount raised in schools in Croydon.
Each year we ask for donations of non-perishable goods and toiletries for our Harvest Festival. In 2015 our donations were passed to the Salvation Army to distribute to local needy families through the Food Bank.
