Book Character Dress Up Day

To celebrate World Book Day, we are having a Book Character Day on Friday 8th March. We are encouraging children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. As well as book related activities, children will join up with other classes to read their current reading book to each other.

Some suggestions: Characters from:

  • Fairy Tales
  • Roald Dahl Stories (Fantastic Mr Fox, Matilda, George’s Marvellous Medicine, Willy Wonka, etc)
  • The Gruffalo, or any character from Julia Donaldson books (Stick Man, Witch on the Broom)
  • Paddington Bear
  • The Worst Witch
  • The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
  • The Hobbit
  • Harry Potter / Hermione Grainger / Dumbledore
  • Treasure Island
  • Peter Pan / Tinkerbell / Captain Hook
  • Where’s Wally
  • Horrid Henry
  • Mary Poppins
  • The Wizard of Oz / Dorothy / Tin Man / Lion
  • Alice in Wonderland / the Queen of Hearts / Mad Hatter / Cheshire Cat
  • Any character from David Walliams books (Gangsta Granny, Mr Stink, Billionaire Boy, Ratburger)

We do not expect parents to buy or hire outfits but to improvise at home. Please ensure the costume is comfortable for your child to wear in school all day.
